Students Perform at Greenville County's Gifted Center
Several private drum lesson students performed at Sterling School's Charles Townes Center on Monday June 2. Charles Townes Center, formerly Greenville County Gifted Center, hosted Think Drums' Fraction ReAction. The Students performed Bucket Bash for all fourth grade students and one third grade class.
The 3rd and 4th grade students were extremely attentive and enthusiastically participated in interactive percussion oriented math drills.
Fraction ReAction is a proprietary percussion music education program designed to make math and fractions more fun. The young percussionists also assisted Mr. Irish with math themed rudiments, exercises, and drum stick tricks. The finale featured a novelty percussion piece entitled "Bucket Bash" played on real five gallon buckets.
Bucket Bash was written by both Mr. Irish and his students as way to study music composition and improvisation. The presentation also gives the private lesson students a chance to perform in front of a live audience. Later that day, the group performed for a Southside High School music class.
All had a great time!
